Interview with Lisa Borden of the Wellness Intelligence Collective
Meet Sabrina Aven and Dane Clark: Good Humans of The Week
👑
May 19, 2026
I'm so excited to introduce you to Sabrina Aven and Dane Clark.
Before I choose where I am going to travel, I look at a few things including nature and the food culture. Before I travelled to Baja the first time, I saw Sabrina and Dane on Instagram talking about doing things slowly, thoughtfully, imperfectly, and beautifully. Before I ever met them, I saw they were hosting an ancestral style, nutrient dense, organic sourdough pizza night in the mountains at their ranch and Wild Desert Fermentary and immediately thought, “Okay … this I need and these are my people.”
And they were … they are.
What Sabrina and Dane are building at Rancho Pacifico Baja is not some curated “off-grid aesthetic” for social media. It’s a real life built with dusty boots, wood fire, fermented dough, rescued plants, long days, tired bodies, huge vision, deep love, and an almost unreasonable level of devotion to doing things well.
You can taste it in their food … not only their pizza but their sprouted quinoa sourdough and cinnamon buns and fresh eggs and ferments. You can feel it in the way they welcome people. You can hear it when they talk about the land, their animals, their customers, each other, and the dream they are still building by hand overlooking the Pacific. You'll get it reading this interview with them, that is for sure.
They are savvy, soulful stewards and hosts in the truest sense. The kind who make strangers feel like friends within minutes. The kind who remember what hospitality is actually supposed to feel like. They create the conditions for connection - to each other, to us, and even to our guts through their ferments.
Sabrina and Dane help us to feel full in every sense of the word.
And after reading this conversation, I think you’ll understand why people keep finding their way up that mountain road to sit at their table. Or visiting them at the market. You might even want to move in with them!
